Active Women Association

Active Women Association is a non-governmental women organization that acts for gender equality and empowerment of women.

It was formed in 2002 by Halina Sobańska to promote women’s participation in the social, professional and political life, to introduce the idea of self-development and education among women and take actions towards limiting violence against women and girls.

Active Women Association is involved in non-formal education to create self-awareness among women and knowledge about women’s rights, does advocacy on legal reform in particular policies and laws that discriminate against women. Organization is strongly devoted in calling for improving social, legal, political, economic status of women. Providing services to individual women deepens our collective understanding of the needs and concerns in our community. Organization is dedicated to women's empowerment, self-development, equality, reproductive health, and actions against domestic violence. We coordinate and are the member of networks that empower women in political activity, e.g. Silesian Pre-Election Women Coalition, Political Club of Women, Female Politics.
